"Stealth" Consulting

Training Corner header.jpg

As a learning professional, is it ever OK to say "No" to a training request? What if you know that even the best training is doomed to fail? First of all, that is kind of a trick question. I would never say "No" but I would surely say "Yes, we can do that and would you be interested in other better, cheaper options?"

Many times stakeholders come to us asking for a solution in the form of a course, before verifying that a course is a good option for the problem they're trying to solve.

If we always default to "Yes", without confirming that training is appropriate we are only hurting ourselves in the long run. Instead be a "stealth consultant" to identify key business goals and share the responsibility with your stakeholders for achieving them
