Uncharted & Unprecedented Times

In Uncharted & Unprecedented Times, our “way of life” changing by the hour, uncertainty builds, what do we do ?

My daughter was one of the people stranded in Peru.  She got out on a Medical flight by waiting in line at the airport embassy  for hours before a chance spot on the wait-list opened up. She was one of the lucky ones.  She and her boyfriend were able to make it home on Saturday after the mandatory shut down while many are still stuck in a very scary situation abroad.

These circumstances put things in a different perspective, don’t they? When my daughter came home, we started a checklist together of what we can do during our quarantine to not only help ourselves but others too.  I thought I’d pass along this idea of a daily checklist in the hopes that it might help you stay sane, centered and productive, with the classic Rotary Club motto “service above self” as our guiding light.

One big thing we are doing is continuing to support small businesses. This can be as simple as choosing the local coffee shop over Starbucks, or getting carry -out to help sustain our neighborhood and community restaurants.  Consider helping support small businesses who offer critical services like financial planning, tax preparation or  business consulting (hey that’s us!)These businesses operate in our local communities to help keep our economy humming along in a quieter way.  It’s a time to re-think our priorities and reset the way we work, play and shop.

As  boutique consulting firm, we fall squarely into this small business discussion. We’re doing our best at Change for Growth to survive and thrive during this crisis as it’s honestly unlike anything we’ve ever seen. But if there’s anything we know, it’s how to manage and lead through change, so let us know how we can help. With so many teams working remotely for the first time, to all the students and educators now pivoting to virtual classrooms, to the software implementations that still need to take place, now more than ever we need to lead with a positive, proactive and agile mindset.

Change management, distance (eLearning) learning, crisis communication, leadership coaching and development, reduction in force communications; these are just some of the services we offer our clients and trusted partners. We’re also looking for ways to give back to our local community, be it via service opportunities, philanthropic efforts or deferred payment offerings.

Be sure to follow C4G on LinkedIn and sign up for email alerts as we continue to send out helpful tips and tricks to get you through this time. We at C4G are so thankful for you, our clients, friends and colleagues.  We hope (and pray) that you will all remain safe and healthy during this time.

Our daily checklist (we’ll be building on this idea again in some future blog posts):

  • Do our best work activity / continue to develop our skills to best support our clients

  • Exercise / Physical activity

  • Healthy cooking

  • Support a small business daily

  • Help someone in need / Face Time a friend

  • Send an encouraging word to someone friends / co-workers

  • FUN / Happy activity

  • Keep a gratitude journal – we still have a lot to be thankful for

  • Spiritual activity/a great time for prayer or meditation

We at C4G are meeting every other day as a leadership team to best support our employees, their families and our clients.  We are practicing the following:

  • Always be calm and considerate

  • Have Faith not fear

  • Praise not panic

  • Help not hoard
