Life as an Intern at Change 4 Growth
As a college student at Ohio State, the chance to learn the workings of a business in the first person was crucial. When I began at Change 4 Growth one thing became abundantly clear - culture in this company is paramount. On my first day as an Intern I walked in not knowing what to expect, as many would, but by the third hour I already felt completely at home. The culture at C4G makes for a respecting and fun environment that enabled me to do my best every day and I loved it. If you walk into the home office you will read, “We lead with our values, we delight our customers, and we have fun”. And from my short time here as an employee, I could really feel this motto resonating through the whole company.
As for my role as an intern, I came in with the idea I would be strictly doing marketing because that is what I’m studying in school. However, my internship presented me with more opportunities to understand other fields than previously expected. I worked with our marketing, sales, design, and consulting teams in many ways throughout the summer. For marketing, I was given the opportunity to pioneer our Powered By Happy campaign. It was fantastic to receive so many fellow peers’ submissions and see what made them happy outside of the workplace. Along with that, I also handled many of our social media posts which was a real joy coming from a generation that spends a significant amount of time around it. For the consulting team , I had the chance to do research and present a program on Artificial Intelligence and Virtual Reality. Lastly, I was able to help organize files to help keep our onboarding program up to date for our next great employee.
To those who may want to intern at C4G in the future, the opportunities are plentiful. As an intern I felt as if my opinions mattered and that people truly cared. During your time you will acquire a wealth of knowledge on our five pillars and how they are effective when applied to other companies that we consult for. As I went along I realized one of the biggest things in business is networking, and C4G allows you an opportunity to network via events or internally which will help build your future. Finally, it provides a fun environment to learn and grow in that will allow me to adapt the knowledge I acquired to the rest of my professional career.
Most importantly, I would be remiss not to thank Beth Thomas, Carla Cole, Mark Deans, and Kevin Hollo who are all on the leadership team, for giving me this great opportunity that will last throughout the rest of my professional career. Another huge thanks to Brandon Friedel, Marina Elliott, and Kelly Robson who truly became my friends and made coming to the office enjoyable every day. Thanks to Shelley Balser, Lisa Pringle, and Tracy Miller who were essentially the “moms” of the office, and their continuing support in my development as a young professional throughout this summer. Lastly, my thanks to the rest of the C4G staff for your support. I wish you all the best of luck in your future endeavors – Nick Rehm
